About GPScore
The NHS publishes a lot about every GP surgery in England. Most of it sits in spreadsheets and analyst tools that patients never see. GPScore puts it in one place.
Each year around 700,000 people answer the NHS GP Patient Survey. The results for every surgery come out as a spreadsheet with more than a thousand columns. The Care Quality Commission publishes its inspection ratings in a large workbook. Figures on the quality of care, common health conditions, vaccinations and local deprivation sit in a public health tool built for analysts. The NHS website tells you whether a surgery is taking on patients, one page at a time.
GPScore joins those sources for all 6,260 surgeries, turns them into one score you can compare (the method is on how scores work), and puts every surgery next to its neighbours. It is built and maintained by Matthew Hodson in Lincoln, UK, and published by Search Ventures Ltd (company 10588553), the team behind OpenCrime, WaitSmart and WaitRadar.
Independence
GPScore takes no money from surgeries, NHS bodies or health companies, and it is not connected to NHS England, Ipsos or the Care Quality Commission. Surgeries cannot pay to improve their listing. If the site carries advertising, it is clearly labelled.
Corrections
If a figure looks wrong, the usual cause is a surgery that has merged, moved or changed its NHS code, so its records no longer match up. Tell us and we will check the source and fix it.
